Frequently Asked Question

How can I install the hutch doors when there are no pilot holes on the gables and divider?
  • Proper installation of hutches requires that the tables they sit on must first be properly leveled.

  • If there are no pilot holes on hutch gables and vertical divider(s), doors can still be mounted easily.  First cut a strip of cardboard less than the width of the door.  This will be used as a spacer to create the gap between the back of the door and the front edge of the shelf and top.  Tape the strip of cardboard to hang in front of the top and shelf.  With one hand holding the door to line up with the top of the gable and against the cardboard in front of the top and shelf, reach in behind the door with the other hand to attach the door using an electric screw driver.  Once the door is fixed in place, remove the cardboard.  This should leave a gap between the door and the shelf and top the thickness of a door bumpee.  Do the same for the other doors starting from the outside door first so that the height of the doors could be determined by lining up with the top of the gables.  How much higher the tops of the center doors above the hutch top is determined by the same amount the the gables stick above the top of hutch.

  • Finally, adjust the vertical alignment of the doors, again, starting from the outside doors.  Each gap should be 3mm wide.
